Duxbury News was started by Toni Williamson about 13 years ago.  She enjoyed writing about our community and sharing it with you the readers.  This is her husband Glen, filling in and writing this edition.  I don’t know if I’ll continue, but I would like to tell you a little about us.

Genesis 1:26 & 27 – “And God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness: … So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” And so, our time traveling began.

Eons later, February 22, 1959, Antoinette Moss took her breath of life in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  Nine months later she and two other sisters and a brother moved to Minneapolis, to be raised by her Grand Aunt and Uncle.

Years later, December 1, 1971, a young, 14-year-old skinny guy who just immigrated from Jamaica was introduced to her by his cousin Winsome, at Bryant Junior High in South Minneapolis.  They became instant friends (not lovers or girlfriend/boyfriend, just each other’s buddies).

Years later, Sunday, June 19, 1976, that skinny, Jamaican guy (me), asked her in church … “When are you going to marry me?”  Toni replied, “Whenever you’re ready!”  I then responded, “First you have to get rid of your boyfriend.”   You see we weren’t dating or anything.  A couple weeks earlier I had fallen in love with her and decided she was my “soul mate”, my time travelling partner that I’ve been searching for.

A few days later, she called me and asked if I was serious.  I told her “Yes”.  She said, “That’s good because I broke up with Casanova.”  Yup, that was her boyfriend’s name.  A few weeks later, June 30, 1976 we moved in together.  On Saturday, June 18, 1977 (Toni was 18 and I was 19 – 365 days after I asked her to marry me), we got married in a Rehoboth Church in North Minneapolis and never been apart.

Our first child, Nika, a daughter was born a little over 10 months later, on April 23, 1978; our second and last child, our son, Glen II, was born, December 19, 1982.  Through our children we are blessed with six grandchildren, ranging from the oldest being age 19 to the youngest being 8.

During our 43 years of living together, we bought five homes (six if you include our cabin), a bunch of cars, struggled financially at times, but we were stayed steadfast with our love.  In fact, Toni told me several times during those years… no matter what happens financially, we’ll always be together. She would confirm on bonding by saying, “If we don’t have a home, I would live with you under Interstate 94 bridge.”

In 2003 while living in Brooklyn Park, we bought an old abandoned campground in Duxbury; two years later, December 16, 2005, we moved full time to Duxbury.  We got involved in the community.  I was first appointed to Wilma Township Board, May 2006 and became the Chairperson, March 2009 and still currently the Chair.  Toni was appointed Deputy Clerk in 2008 but resigned her position 2018 because of her illness.  During that time, she also served on OSAC Board and was also involved with various other local organizations.  We truly enjoy living in this area.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 – For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted.”

To all my friends and readers, words cannot express how I feel.  But, Toni, age 60, my time traveling companion on this earth for almost 48 years (married 42 years) transcended peacefully at October 24, 2019 at 1:40 pm in my arms, listening to the song, Suddenly by Billy Ocean at our home in Duxbury, MN. For the first time in about 5 years or so, she’s not feeling any pain.    We grew up and made life together. It was a blessing. Toni is an angel. She predicted to me last June 18 that this maybe our last anniversary together. I did my best not to believe it. Not only that, she transcended exactly as she wanted – in my arms, in our bed, in our home. That’s the way she wanted to go. How many people move on exactly as they wanted it to? Only an angel gets their wishes to the end. I love her always and forever

We hope you will join us, by attending her Homegoing Ceremony this Sunday, November 3, 2019, 3 pm at Methven Funeral and Cremation, 114 5th St SE, Sandstone, MN 55072.  A social will follow the Homegoing Celebration and will start at 6 pm. Location of this social will be given at the Homegoing Ceremony.

Even though she’ll be missed here on earth, she’ll be always, and forever be present in our hearts!  Because we are time traveling souls, I do expect to meet her again, sometime in the future, whether it be here on earth, another planet or in the spirit.

I hope I’ve done her well, by writing this article, letting you know about us and why she’ll not be writing Duxbury News anymore.
